Meeting someone you've been chatting with is an exciting step. A little planning keeps it comfortable and safe for both of you and for your families.
Before you meet
-
Chat for a while first. Take time to get to know each other on Bolo Kobul before sharing your phone number or meeting.
-
Check the details match. Name, work and family details should be consistent with the profile. If something keeps changing, pause.
-
Tell your family or a friend. Share who you're meeting, where and when.
-
Consider involving families early. Many families prefer that the first meeting happens with a parent or sibling present.
Choosing the place
- Meet in a busy public place, such as a well-known restaurant or café, during the day.
- Arrange your own transport there and back.
- Avoid private homes, hotel rooms or isolated places for a first meeting.
During the meeting
- Keep your phone charged and with you.
- Don't share bank details, OTP codes, or copies of your NID or passport.
- Trust your instincts. You can leave at any time, without explaining.
Warning signs
- Asking for money, gifts or help with "emergencies".
- Pushing to meet quickly or in private.
- Refusing to involve families, or asking you to keep things secret.
